On the 24th September 2024 a selection of 15 unique Technogym Benches will be auctioned in collaboration with Sotheby’s, and the further 25 Technogym Benches will be available for purchase on Technogym.com as part of the Design to Move project.
All proceeds from both the auction and e-shop will be donated to Unicef. The Design to Move project was created to explore the special relationship between design and wellness, style and functionality, and the emotional and the tangible; all of which have been key considerations for Technogym since its inception.
Using the Technogym Bench as a blank canvas, “Design to Move” features 40 benches designed by 40 different internationally renowned designers and artists including Kelly Hoppen, Antonio Citterio, Nendo, Patricia Urquiola, Piero Lissoni, Walter de Silva, Rolf Sachs, Elena Salmistraro, Michele Bönan.
Exercise
The brand was started by President and Founder Nerio Alessandri at the age of 22, when he designed and built his very first piece of gym equipment by combining his passion for technology and design (TECHNO) with his passion for exercise (GYM). Over the years, the brand has evolved from a fitness equipment company into a comprehensive ecosystem of wellness lifestyle and a protagonist of Italian design.

“As Leonardo taught us, movement is the cause of all forms of life. In the last 40 years we have been working every day to help people live a better life thanks to wellness. Design has always been a key element of our journey, a strong ally to turn functional into emotional and needs into aspiration. We are proud that so many designers and artists have joined our dream of putting the world back in motion” says Nerio Alessandri, Technogym Founder and CEO.
The special project was visually planned and conceived with acclaimed architect and designer Giulio Cappellini, and curated by Bruna Roccasalva who has inspired the artists to interpret the concept of wellness through their individual artistic and cultural lenses.
It was launched at Milan Design Week 2024 to celebrate Technogym’s 40th Anniversary.
