New David Shrigley Exhibition Opens in Cambridge

Cambridge-based gallery, Extraordinary Objects, has opened a new exhibition celebrating the work of David Shrigley; a crude, contemporary and comical British artist, who is internationally recognised for his satirical, cartoonish ink drawings which observe everyday situations, human interactions and politics.

The new exhibition, titled My Artwork Is Terrible and I am A Very Bad Person, will run until 4th December and features a range of rare prints and original artwork. F***ing Ace and I Must Rest are fan favourites, while Old Dog has never been shown before in the UK. Four smaller screen prints, including the 2019 pieces Everyone Must Dance and Time To Be Happy are also extremely rare – so much so they cannot be seen online anywhere.

Shrigley originals on display include: Three Caps, Cream, Do You Like Beans, Waterfall and Resist Your Urges. All pieces are available to purchase, with prices ranging from £950 to £7,800.

Extraordinary Objects, which is located on Green Street in Cambridge city centre, celebrates works that are truly ‘extraordinary’ in nature, and features a unique collection of artwork, sculptures, antiquities and natural history, all hand-picked by owner, Carla Nizzola.

Carla comments: “In a year that has been filled with unpredictability, David Shrigley’s work has never been more relevant. He is satirical and sarcastic, but he tackles serious issues head on, and I think the raw honesty of his work is what the world needs right now.

Our new exhibition intends to provide comic, colourful relief to visitors, and, with the opportunity to view and purchase works that are seldom seen elsewhere, I hope the people of Cambridge will enjoy experiencing this artist with me over the next couple of months.”

Extraordinary Objects hosted an exclusive preview event for My Artwork Is Terrible and I am A Very Bad Person on 30th September and the exhibition opened to the public on 1st October.
