One of the UK’s largest and most significant art fairs, Manchester Art Fair, returns to Manchester Central this November 21st-23rd with its strongest edition to date.
Selling modern and contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography, and editioned prints from a uniquely diverse mix of galleries and independent artists, alongside a rich programme of artist talks, panel discussions, performances, and installations; it is a key date in the cultural and lifestyle calendar.
Sitting alongside MAF is The Manchester Contemporary, a collegiate platform for young galleries, artist-led spaces, charitable organisations, and partner institutions providing a critically engaged environment for artistic exploration and development.
The Manchester Contemporary Art Fund was founded in 2017 by Thom Hetherington, and its members are made up of local businesspeople and entrepreneurs who are passionate about their city and its cultural heritage. The TMC art fund seeks to support rising artists, providing them with a platform through which to achieve critical acclaim and greater popularity.
Since its creation, the fund has raised over £86,000 and gifted 38 pieces of work, acquired from galleries at The Manchester Contemporary art fair, to Manchester Art Gallery to be kept in their permanent collection, owned and enjoyed the people of Manchester in perpetuity.
Boundaries
MAF blurs the boundaries between the traditional and the contemporary, creating a friendly and unpretentious art-buying experience.
The Fair programme includes art workshops where you can learn the stories behind the paintings and hear hints and tips about what to collect in expert art talks. Past speakers have included Ryan Gander, Tony Heaton OBE, Scarlet Page, Mark Demsteader, Dave Haslam, Stan Chow and Ian Rayer Smith
Tickets are available now at manchesterartfair.co.uk and priced at £12 for a day ticket, £15 for a two-day ticket, or £25 for a preview night ticket, including access throughout the weekend. A booking fee applies.
