The jacket worn by Keifer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in Series One of 24, a phaser rifle from Star Trek: First Contact and a waistcoat from The Warriors all feature in an auction by Ewbank’s on February 28th 2019.
The Jack Bauer jacket, with an estimate of £1,200, is just one of the highlights in the auction house’s 300-plus lot February 28th Movie Props sale, a bonanza offering bidders the chance to secure iconic costumes and artefacts from some of the most popular TV shows and films of the past 50 years.
Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise, Star Trek, Aliens, Back To The Future, The Mummy and Gladiator all feature – even the golden blaster used by the dastardly Emperor Ming’s personal guard in the 1980 film Flash Gordon will be on offer.
Ewbank’s expects one of the most sought-after pieces to be the signature screen Swan waistcoat worn by Michael Beck, who played the lead in the 1979 cult movie The Warriors. That comes with a high estimate of £8,000.
A production used Static Phaser Rifle from what is widely seen as one of the best films in the Star Trek franchise Star Trek: First Contact (1996), comes with hopes of up to £4,000, while a hand-drawn sketch and hand-drawn storyboard – both created personally by director James Cameron – from the 1986 sci-fi horror Aliens are expected to fetch up to £1,500 each. And how about a production used rebel jumpsuit from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (estimate £100-150) or two original hand-painted animation cells used in the 1993 hit film Jurassic Park?
“This auction offers a wide range of iconic pieces with some fairly hefty prices, but the great thing is that there is also a host of less expensive items from a wide variety of great films and TV shows,” says Ewbank’s specialist Alastair McCrea. “Really, there’s something for everyone.”
