A Christmas of Rarity and Refinement with Midleton Very Rare

Kevin O’Gorman, Midleton Distillery Master Distiller presents Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter Six – the final chapter in Ireland’s oldest whiskey collection.

Christmas is a season of reflection and celebration, a time to honour the past while embracing the promise of the future. Few gifts capture this sentiment as profoundly as a truly rare whiskey. For the discerning collector or the connoisseur seeking an unforgettable Christmas indulgence, Midleton Very Rare whiskeys embody refinement, rarity, and the deep poetry of time itself.

Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter Six: The Final Drops from Old Midleton Distillery

Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter Six, unveiled in 2025, is the final expression in the remarkable Silent Distillery series; the rarest and oldest Irish whiskey collection in the world, honouring the legacy of the Old Midleton Distillery, an icon of Irish distilling legend, which operated from 1825 to 1975 and was world-renowned for its Irish single pot still whiskey.

Unveiled to celebrate the distillery’s 200th anniversary, the final chapter of the Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection is a true taste of Irish whiskey history, never to be repeated.

Initially aged in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, the craftsmanship required to nurture a spirit across half a century ensures that Chapter Six is not merely tasted, but experienced. The result is a whiskey with a wonderful vibrancy, where lively, fresh fruit flavours elegantly balance earthy aromas of dried tobacco leaves and antique oak, a common thread throughout the Silent Distillery Collection.

Presented in a specially designed and individually mouth-blown House of Waterford decanter, Chapter Six is a work of art as much as it is a whiskey. The exquisite bottle is housed in a unique wooden cabinet designed by Irish master craftsman John Galvin, who carefully selected and combined six rare woods – each previously featured in the cabinets of the first five Silent Distillery releases – with the sixth being a stunning blue bird’s eye maple. Enhanced with a delicate 18ct gold-plated trim, premium leather interior, and oak reclaimed from old Irish whiskey vats, this masterpiece is nothing short of a statement: a physical embodiment of heritage and finality.

At an ABV of 53% and retail price of €60,000 / £55,000, one does not simply gift a whiskey, but the last drops ever distilled at Old Midleton Distillery.

Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais: The pinnacle of Irish whiskey meets the pinnacle of French oak

If Silent Distillery Chapter Six is an ode to history, Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais is a celebration of innovation and artistry.

Following a successful first collaboration between Midleton Distillery and the renowned Taransaud cooperage, which is famed for its expertise in creating rare, handcrafted French oak casks, the latest edition of Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais was created by Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman and combines the finest craftsmanship of Ireland and France to create something truly exceptional.

A hand-selected blend of grain and single pot still whiskeys, matured over decades spanning the 1980s to early 2000s in American bourbon barrels, were married together and carefully filled into casks made of five-year air-dried oak from the forest of Tronçais (known as T5 casks). The whiskey was then aged for a further four years, creating a limited-edition whiskey with a succulent texture, enhanced by flavours of decadent white chocolate and fruit nuances, with a gentle lingering spice.

This remarkable whiskey is presented in a hand formed and hand finished glass which retains the distinctive duck egg blue of the Midleton Very Rare collection. The bottle is further housed in a wooden cabinet created by Manufacture Jacquemin. Using the rare Forêt de Tronçais oak, this cabinet is adorned with laser-cut details reflecting the story of the forest, highlighting a luxurious, yet minimalist, aesthetic. It speaks of nature, time, and the artistry of cask selection – an expression as refined as it is forward-looking.

Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais Edition 2 is bottled at 48% ABV and is available at the retail price of €5,000 / £4,388.

To gift Chapter Six is to honour history – the final living drops of Old Midleton. To offer Forêt de Tronçais is to celebrate the future trajectory of Irish whiskey. Together, they form a curated duet: one rooted in the silent past, the other toasting to innovation and the beauty of new traditions forged. Presented in decanters of bespoke glass, resting in cabinets of fine woodwork, these are not mere bottles – they are objets d’art.

Allow your gift to transcend time: offer heritage, imagination and a liquid legacy that, like the season itself, lingers long after the moment.
